When I butcher the deer that I harvest, I freeze the hams and shoulders, then defrost them one at a time later and cut them up into steaks and hams, then vacuum seal them. I was doing that to a shoulder today, and look what I found!! I found what was left of my 245 gr. Powerbelt ballistic tip .50 caliber muzzleloader bullet. I shot the buck quartering away at 60 yards. The buck ran another 60 yards and fell over dead. I never found the bullet, but now I know why. It had lodged in a joint in the shoulder. Here it is. Pretty cool to recover the bullet and examine it. It did exactly what it is supposed to do. Open up quickly and expend all of it's energy in the animal.
