What is the difference? besides price and looks between a custom call and a store bought?

Most custom calls have been tuned and sound a lot better. I used have a Neil Cost call I traded like a dumb ass and it sounded better than any other box call Ive heard.

sound consistency is better in most custom calls.
although many many many birdies die from mass produced calls and the turkeys prolly dont know much of a difference.

You can get the call built to your preferences. Along with better sound. Also some builders will warranty their call from just about anything.

If you get the call from a GOOD custom call maker, they sound awesome!!! A lot of guys do them as a hobby, and call them custom calls, but they don't sound very good. A true craftsman puts time and quality into his call, and the sound of the call shows it.
